what is kundalini energy?
Kundalini is a sacred divine feminine energy lying dormant within all humans. This energy rests within the root chakra region, behind the ovaries in females and the gonads in men. It is often referred to as a serpent, in that it lies coiled up within the being. As the kundalini releases, it has the potential to move up through and around the spinal column like a snake, moving from one side to the other. As it moves it clears the pathways for the ventral vagal system of the autonomic nervous system to come more fully online. This will enable an openness in the energy body, more clear and pure consciousness to flow, and an activation of the gut-brain axis for communication between the body and brain to be clear and succinct.
The term “kundalini” is a Sanskrit term, which is an ancient language of the yogi’s, therefore kundalini arose from hindu philosophy. Since the ancient yogis were so highly attuned to the subtle energy body, they hold the wisdom of this energy that is responsible for evolving human consciousness. It’s quite fascinating how the west is finally catching up with the east in their ways of relating to the human experience. Neuroscience continues to unleash new insights into the inner workings of energy and consciousness, that the yogis, several thousands of years ago had mapped out through their own direct experiences.
Kundalini is a conscious energy that has the potential to clear past trauma, energy blockages, and through this, awaken one’s senses into a more heightened state of being, to support more expanded awareness of self, other, and environment. Lots of people with “active” kundalini become more empathic and sensitive to the energies of others and other subtle energies within the environment. Part of my mission is to support folks in navigating their sensitivity more skillfully, while also celebrating the presence of it and learning ways to expand one’s potential through their sensitivity.
