kundalini and human evolution
Kundalini energy is a divine feminine energy or one could say consciousness. Consciousness can be described as awareness or on deeper levels an intelligence. Kundalini is the intelligence within each of us that will guide us to and through human evolution. Humans have been living for thousands if not millions of years in primal states of consciousness and energetic resonance. This comes through the highly sophisticated human nervous system. The nervous system evolved in living organisms so there could be movement. Movement directed from the living organism, rather than the organism being moved in space by the environment, such as with amphibians that live in water.
Neuroscience breaks down the brain into three sections, the brain stem or reptilian brain, the limbic system or mammalian brain, and the neocrotex or human brain. Each of these brains evolve through the resonance of one’s nervous system. The brain is like a hard drive of a computer. It’s where different parts of the hard drive support different functions, like in the brain. The nervous system could be described as the software system. Like with computers, there can be upgrades, viruses, programs, etc that influence the function and expression of intelligence of the hard drive.
The body is the vessel of the software system, and in addition to the nervous system, there is also the software intelligence of the fascia or connective tissue matrix, that stores information, emotions, memories, beliefs, etc. Information stored in the nervous system and fascia will influence the channels of the brain that get ignited. For us to evolve as a species so we can change the current trajectory for the planet and the human species, we need to support the vessel of the body in ways that support activation in the frontal lobe of the brain or neocortex.
Let’s go back to the nervous system, more specifically, the autonomic nervous system which is part of the peripheral nervous system. See chart below. The autonomic nervous system is responsible for the internal state of the body and its physiological processes. Ultimately, it exists to support movement or immobilization within the organism for survival. But, as we evolve and learn more about the inner workings of this sophisticated system, and expand in our embodied awareness through paying attention to the internal signals and track how the body and mind are connected, we can see clearly that this system can be influenced by our thoughts (ways of looking at experience) or through the sensory intelligence of the fascial system.
What I am referring to is embodiment. Awareness of body and mind, with skillful action to promote well-being.
Most humans are living disconnected from their body, meaning they aren’t aware of what the body senses or feels. Many people are shut down in their ability to even “feel” emotions. They live in a frozen state of being. This keeps one’s nervous system shut down in a freeze or immobilized state of being. When in this state of being, you will find that its hard to move forward with initiatives or to make loving and open connection with others. This state limits vitality and energy flow through to the organs and cells of the body, fueling an unhealthy gut and limiting the flow of communication from the gut to the brain, key in getting activation in the human brain where one’s executive functions reside, self-awareness, compassion, creativity, and fluid consciousness.
When we live in ways that are disconnected from our body and that are either limited in our awareness of self, we remain stuck in our primal realms of consciousness, seeing through similiar lenses that our ancestors did. This keeps us stuck in samsara or the cycle of suffering.
So what does kundalini have to do with all of this?
As mentioned before, kundalini is working to clear the energy pathways from body to brain and brain to body. This sacred process will enable for more clear communication and for the nervous system to move out of its primal fight-flight-freeze response into the response of flow and social engagement. The ventral vagal system of the autonomic system, also known as the social engagement system, is mapped in the gut, heart, and frontal lobe. Humans are evolving into this system. Practices like mindfulness, meditation, chanting with concentration, fascia awakening and release, and somatic based meditation can support this system in coming online. When this system engages, kundalini can flow with more ease, and the consciousness of the body can be upgraded. Kundalini is the force that enables this to happen.
